About Us

All land snails are hermaphrodites, so all have the ability to lay eggs.  Eggs are round, white, and about 3 mm in diameter.  An adult brown garden snail lays an average of eighty eggs at a time.

On January 25, 2012, the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) released the new version of its Plant Hardiness Zone Map (PHZM), updating a useful tool for gardeners and researchers for the first time since 1990 with greater accuracy and detail. The new map—jointly developed by USDA's Agricultural Research Service (ARS) and Oregon State University's (OSU) PRISM Climate Group—is available online at http://planthardiness.ars.usda.gov/PHZMWeb/
