Presented by Pete Bagalou, or “Paver Pete”, the Education Director for Techo-Bloc, the SRW Basic Installer Course is a 1-day course and exam intended for contractors new to the business and for new employees of established installer companies that would like to become NCMA certified. The course curriculum covers fundamental SRW installation guidelines, material and system component properties, soils and compaction, the effect of water, and site practices.  To become certified all candidates will need to take the SRW Installer course, pass the exam, and present the necessary installation experience. NCMA grades the exams and issues Records of Completion and other notifcations by mail to all students within 6 weeks of the class. The exam is composed of 100 multiple choice questions, and an 80% or better is needed to pass.

The National Concrete Masonry Association (NCMA) is the Association that represents the manufacturers of segmental retaining wall units. NCMA oversees all of the technical information associated with best practices in installation of these walls. Properly trained segmental retaining wall installers are critical to well-performing projects.
